September is an exciting month for birding in Iowa! Birds that spent the summer with us are preparing for their migratory journey south by eating lots of food, while resident birds that will spend the winter with us are storing food for the cold months. And to top it off, many species that spent the summer months to our north are traveling through Iowa. Join us for a morning of birding at McFarland Park in Ames. Our target birds will be migrating warblers (like the Palm Warbler pictured) and other songbirds.

This field trip is free to attend and open to any young birders and their parents/guardians. Advance registration is required. Iowa Young Birders welcomes everyone to the outdoors regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, religion, creed, national origin, or disability status. Our events can accommodate wheelchairs, vision and hearing impairments, and other health conditions. For questions, or to request accommodations for an upcoming event, please send us a message or email.
