We’re excited to kick off the 2025 field trip season with a special visit to Purple Martin Lake in West Des Moines! Local Purple Martin expert Tim Gedler will join us to talk about the Purple Martin nesting colonies near the lake, and perhaps even show us a Purple Martin up close. You won’t want to miss this fun event!
This field trip is free to attend and open to any young birders and their parents/guardians. Advance registration is required. Iowa Young Birders welcomes everyone to the outdoors regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, religion, creed, national origin, or disability status. Our events can accommodate wheelchairs, vision and hearing impairments, and other health conditions.
