The Wood Duck is the one of the most iconic waterfowl in North America, and each year the Iowa Department of Natural Resources bands thousands of Wood Ducks to track population trends in Iowa and throughout the Midwest. Join us for a morning banding Wood Ducks with the Iowa DNR at the Hawkeye Wildlife Area near Iowa City! We will learn about the information we can obtain from banding birds and how the information is used as well as how to safely capture and handle these birds. This trip is free but advanced registration is required.
